Dutar Master

I picked up this VCD just before leaving Korla... a little entertainment for you all from dutar master Abdurehim Heyit. The intensity really picks up at about 03:45 into the song, and I love how the editors inexplicably decided to throw a few Hawaiian beach shots in amongst the Xinjiang scenery.

If you enjoy this song you should also check out this video from a few years back of Heyit strumming like an absolute madman.

Very nice! I think that's the best video you've posted in a while.

Thanks for the great song !

Did you actually meet Abdurehim during your stay in Xinjiang ? I wonder if he will ever do a world tour. He deserves to be known more.

@ZhongTang: I've never met him, but I understand that Fausto from Royal Oculus & Gramophone is a friend of his up in Urumqi.

Indeed. Abdurehim slays with that 2 stringed battle axe of his. We were practically neighbors when i lived in the Muqam Arts Ensemble compound last year.
For your reader's amusement, HERE'S a clip from a weird joint performance in a tiny theater at the same compound a year ago featuring a subdued Heyit, Akhram (master of ghejek) and a jazz trio visiting from the states. enjoy.

AbdulRahim is the truth. You should look into translating some lyrics...voice of the Uygurs man.
