Love Xinjiang? Wear it with Pride.
I got jealous of Sinosplice for selling witty Chinese t-shirts on CafePress.com, so I went ahead and created my own Xinjiang-themed store. You can show your love of Xinjiang by ordering t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, etc. over at cafepress.com/xinjiang. Here's my first design: a collage of photos taken around Xinjiang by yours truly over these past few years, arranged inside a Xinjiang-shaped map, with the Chinese characters for Xinjiang (新疆) below.

I spent the whole afternoon yesterday making that graphic, so somebody better like it. What are you waiting for? Buy, buy, buy!

Can I sue if I am one of the guy in the picture?

No, I don't think so. But I also doubt that you are one of the guys in the picture.
Which person do you claim to be? One of the dancing Uyghur girls? The guy weaving Atlas Silk in Hotan?

Done and done. This is a cool shirt. I know my world traveler will love it. : )

I still don't see any orders placed... c'mon, who is gonna be the first to step up and buy one of these awesome shirts?

If you print my photo on the t-shirt, maybe I will buy one, haha~~~^-^

Nice Michael!...but, while you ARE the unequivocal Emperor of Xinjiang Blogistan - you're NOT the first chatalik with Xinjiang T-shirts. haha ! ;)
I printed these up a short while back for our Urumqi Ultimate-Frisbee crew (the "UUU" : Urumchi Ultimate Union) - mostly young Uyghur folks and several foreigners to get together once or twice a week to play. That's a dancing Uyghur gal plucking a disc from the sky with her skillful double duty hands. In English, Uyghur and Chinese on 3 (sometimes 4) fun fruit colors! sold about 150 of these babies so far, so if you see anyone wiping up watermelon juice with one of these down in Korla, you know where it came from. haha. Want one? Come join us! - dirt cheap local prices to boot!

Yeah, I was looking around cafepress.com and found all sorts of strange Xinjiang crap. Strangely, there are lots of "Xinjiang Mom" and "Xinjiang Dad" t-shirts. The design is crappy, and who the hell would buy those?
Anyway, I like that UUU frisbee design. I was thinking that if I could get this t-shirt printed up here it might be a big seller and affordable for Chinese/Uyghurs. What are your costs per t-shirt?
The comment above was posted by michael at July 24, 2007 04:58 PM unofficial Xinjiang time.
Mercy, mercy - "Xinjiang Mom", "Xinjiang Dad" - what does that even mean? how about some workout pants that say "Xinjiang Caboose" across the back?
Those cost me about 20 kuai per shirt to make (the 100% cotton T plus one-color ink.
For participants, I sell them at cost, and for non-players, sell em for 30RMB. Missionaries get the special price of 40RMB. ;)
I make nothing really on them except my money back ...if that.. given how many i give away as gifts - but it's fun to see folks wearing them around and to games.
If you want, I can take you to the place where I had em done one of these days.

Damn, does this mean all China blogs need to do this?

Eh, it might be a waste of time. I still haven't sold a single shirt or mug. Sigh.
The comment above was posted by michael at July 29, 2007 11:25 PM unofficial Xinjiang time.
I did! UPS is telling me it at least made it to Atlanta.

Woops. You're right... in fact, upon closer inspection it seems that I've sold 6 t-shirts and 1 coffee mug. Awesome!

When someone receives their order could you please take a picture and send it to me? I'd like to see how the design turns out when it's actually printed on the merchandise. Also, let me know if you used direct transfer or heat transfer for your t-shirt. Thanks.
