Stopped at Fengdu early the next morning. This photo was taken in a location where the city formerly stood, soon to be under the Yangzi River. (The inset photo was taken when the city was in an earlier state of destruction.)

While the boat docked to let off some passengers, I noticed markings near the river showing where the water-level will be when the Three Gorges Dam is completed (top right). Levels have already risen by more than 100 meters in many places.
