I heard all sorts of rumors about Lhasa when I told people I'd be traveling there on the new train line: there are no hotel rooms, Tibetans defecate on the street, you can't get into the Potala Palace, etc. None of these rumors turned out to be true, and Lhasa was awesome.

Zoom in for a better look at the funny scenes depicted in this fire prevention poster from the Jokhang Temple. I guess silly monks were burning down too many monasteries with their butter lamps and highly-flamable prayer scarves.

I imagine that the Israelites were worshipping something like this when Moses came down from Mt. Sinai and got angry with them. Ornamentation atop the Jokhang Temple.
