Ditan Park, 0808080808!
Word among expats in Beijing is that Ditan Park is the place to be tonight... if you don't have tickets to the opening ceremony, that is. Of course, you could spend your evening in one of the numerous sports bars or generic clubs around the city, but the general feeling is that tonight is a night to be outdoors with the Chinese people, soaking up the Olympic atmosphere. (Plus, I don't want to miss the fireworks that will be launched around the city at the end of the show.)
So, be there or be square. Ditan Park at 8:08pm!

Woke up in US with the BREAKING News John Edwards had an affair, exactly what I was dying to know, even Russia and Georgia at war cannot compete. Olympic is buried. Needless to say, I am disappointed. Edwards himself probably didn't realize Olympic is no comparison to his affair when it comes to news, or does he like 080808 too?
